In 1932, Charles Revson along with his brother Joseph Revson and Charles Lachman founded the Revlon company in New York City. These three men began what would later become a multimillion dollar company in the heart of the Great Depression. The first product that the company debuted was a new nail enamel which rather than using dyes, used pigments. The year 1973 saw the development of the Charlie line of perfumes, notable for featuring the first perfume advertisements with a woman wearing pants. By the end of that year, Charlie helped boost the organization’s net sales upwards of $506 million.
