Beautiful watch
Beautiful watch
Really nice
Looks nicer in person, with some great details. Can’t beat it at the price under $100. Great affordable automatic.
Fantastic Value
This watch was a very pleasant surprise. I’ve ordered many online, some much more expensive, and I don’t think I’ve been as happy after opening one up as this. The watch is very high quality at initial inspection. As I looked it over more, I noticed a lot of thoughtful cues such as the clasp resembling the Brooklyn Bridge, and the beautiful artwork on the band. Aesthetically it is beautiful, with a nice view of the movement. The colors are pleasant, and the case (while large) is well polished. I was still leery, at such a reasonable price I figured the accuracy or quality of the mechanics would be compromised. This does not appear to be the case here. The watch winds beautifully, in manual mode it is very smooth without the grinding of some lower quality Chinese movement. The automatic winder is exceptionally smooth. So far so good. The Seagull movement is pretty legendary for low cost accuracy. And mine proved to be a good representative of this. After initially wearing it auto winding for 8 hours, it hadn’t lost more than a second. I manually wound it before bed, checked it after work the next day, and it had seriously lost less than 2 seconds. It quickly humbled my ETAs and Valjoux, becoming my most accurate mechanical. This is a fantastic watch and a purchase I’m very glad I made.
Amazing value
I bought this watch, shipped, for under $100 thanks to Jomashop. I expected another watch with a cheap Chinese movement and artificially inflated MSRP, and just bought it because of the aesthetics. Thought I’d take a chance and I’m very glad I did. The watch is beautiful, the dial is lined up perfectly (not a guarantee for low priced watches) and the movement is viewable front an back. It is admittedly on the large size (diameter and thickness) but there are many nice visual cues. The clasp resembles the Brooklyn Bridge, and the artwork on the back of the band is very striking. So the accuracy... I opened the watch, wound it, and let it sit overnight. In 8 hours I couldn’t measure any time loss. Thinking I messed up my timing I wore it to work. Taking it off for bed, 16 hours later, it lost one second. One! Checking it the next day, sitting in the case, it had lost maybe another half. The accuracy of the Seagull movement is amazing, and has humbled my Valjoux and ETAs as my most accurate automatic. The movement is beautiful and smooth, it does not have any of the inherent grinding or any clues to it being a cheap movement. I expect it will hold up well. If it’s of even average reliability, this watch is reasonable at MSRP and an absolute steal at the prices available here, you will not be disappointed grabbing one for yourself or as a gift.
Best Money I ever spent
This Brooklyn auto is absolutely beautiful and impresses me in every regard. The Seagull movement is amazingly accurate and a joy to look at. It has a visible main spring, which is like having a power reserve indicator, as you can see the wind left on the spring. The movement has a manual wind feature witch is also a joy. As you begin to turn the crown, a gear train cams itself out into position and engages the gears to wind the spring. None of my other autos has this. The face and numerals are perfect (viewed through a 30x loupe), with high contrast and a beautiful second hand. It has no date, which makes it a Fast Set. You can pick it up, quickly set it and wear it with no need for an auto winder. The case polish work is spotless, as is the crystal. The band is sized well, and i have found it to be one of my most comfortable watches. This watch has quickly become one of my very favorites, and it has displaced several watches which I paid exponentially more for. It also appears to be my most accurate auto.
