This watch isn't for everyone but if you are like me it hits the sweet spot. If you want a full review with lots of details i'd recommend Ray Makers(Rainmaker) review as it pretty much gives all the details you would want to know. I will simply say that I am an athlete that trains 2-3 times a day and also have to look professional at work. I have used Garmin Forerunners from the very first model and currently use the 920XT for training/racing but since I didn't want to take two watches with me to work every day or on week long international business trips so I just started wearing the 920xt as my everyday watch. Looks awful with a suit but i didn't care all that much, it was easy (and the920xt actually worked as a watch which the 910xt didn't.) I also have a very fancy and very expensive watch that I don't wear much.. just not me and all it does is tell time and look pretty. Anyway.. I tried the Fenix 3 hoping it would be a bit more professional looking than the 920XT while still allowing me to train using the same watch I wear with my suit but didn't really like the look.. looked more like a military watch. Returned the F3 and picked up the new Chronos which is a perfect balance. Does everything the 920XT does and still looks professional. I can switch bands quickly if needed for a different look. So the Chrono's is my new "everyday watch" that allows to me still track my daily training routine. For long runs/rides/swims on the weekend and for racing I will still use the 920XT, but it's really great just having one watch to grab on Monday morning to do everything I need it to. Expensive?.. yes, but looks a heck of a lot more professional than an Apple Watch and if you are an athlete it provides a lot more in the way of workout tracking, etc. This is not a competitor to an Android or Apple watch, their isn't much of an ecosystem of apps, everything is focused on athletes and training. So.. as I said, not the watch for everyone but for me it gives me everything i need.

I do hope Garmin provides a little more in the way of accessories. Would love a second charger to keep in my travel bag (it should make it through a week without charging but I run/workout while on the road so I can't make it through a week without charging) and I'd love to see more optional bands available.
Pushing the button to purchase the $999 Fenix Chronos in solid steel was not easy, but I’m very glad that I did! Having previously worn the Fenix 2, the 910x, the Vivofit and most recently the Vivofit HR+, I was looking for a high-end GPS/Ultra capable, step counting device that could also pass as a dress watch for day-to-day purposes. The Chronos checked all of those boxes. The watch has the following upgrades/improvements from earlier Fenix models:
• Super-fast satellite acquisition time (even when changing geographic locations by hundreds of miles or more).
• Impressive battery life for daily wear and quick charging capabilities. If not in GPS mode, a week's use would be doable. Recharges when hooked to me computer in 25 minutes or less.
• Super easy Bluetooth downloading of data to a smart phone (even faster if plugged into a computer).
• Great look! While the stainless steel weighs slightly more than the titanium, I think it’s a better looking watch.
• The various sports apps are amazing. I skied with the Chronos for two days in Colorado and found the data provided to be amazing. I've also used it for several dozen runs, along with indoor running and walking.
• The full-time HR function works great and beats having to mess with a chest strap.
• While I’ve not messed with it, the available plastic bands appear very easy to change.
• The dozens of downloadable watch faces allow the look to be changed very easily.
• The sapphire watch face itself seems very scratch-proof and durable. Overall quality of the watch is excellent.
The only negatives of the device I’ve found are that the brightness (without pushing the illumination button) could be better, especially when outdoors. As others have mentioned, “how long will the watch remain relevant?” remains a concern. Having never used the same GPS for more than a couple of years, I’m resolved that my children will not be inheriting this watch someday!

In conclusion, as an ultra-runner, planning to use this watch for the Leadman series in 2017, I’m super happy with the purchase.
