have had 3 Fitbits in the past. Lost all of them. I like their product but it disappears from my wrist. I owed the Fitbit flex x2 and one. The band on the Garmin vivofit has a toggle switch that turns and secures the fastenings. Thank you garmin for making a affordable tracker with a toggle so I don't lose it. You can't even feel the toggle switch while wearing it. Other features are the little red bar that appears and beeps to inform you to move. (I work all different times of the day and sleep at different times). It just beeps once and then the red bar just stays on the screen. I think if I adjust my sleep schedule on the profile it would help to not beep while asleep. But everyday is a different time for me so it's kinda a pain to go into my profile and switch it every day. I'm not a runner so I can't tell you how accurate this is while tracking. I just want it for the steps and don't expect it to be extremely accurate but close enough. When you sync it in another time zone it also resets the watch to the current time zone you are in. I'm not sure if I can go to the profile and just put a standard time so it doesn't change every time I sync it. I haven't found that out yet. Just for the toggle switch alone I would buy it again. :)
Love, love, love this watch!! I brag about it all the time to people. What's better than a fitness band that tells you the time, has a timer that tracks your steps, calories, and miles for that time frame, has a backlight, measures your sleep, is completely waterproof (swimming, rain, and shower tested--it's perfect!), and never has to be charged?! It's the best thing I've purchased all year. I've had it for 5 months now and I never go anywhere without it. The price is fantastic, the fact that is has a watch battery that lasts a year, and comes with two different sized bands (no having to guess before you purchase!) sealed the deal for me. The watch band has a locking mechanism so there's no worrying about losing it. The side button is a little tricky if you want to synch it to the app but it just takes some practice to figure out how to press and hold it to get to the right screen.
As far as accuracy goes, I'd say it's pretty close to being spot on. I've worn the watch and carried my phone with me while at work and the step counters usually are around the same. I've noticed my phone will pick up "steps" when hitting bumpy roads so I'm not entirely sure how accurate it is. The watch sometimes doesn't pick up steps I know I've taken but for the most part I'm 100% satisfied with this. I don't need to know exactly how many steps I've taken down to the exact number, I just wanted this because it gives me a general idea and keeps me motivated to reach my goal every day. The Garmin connect app is easy to navigate, shows you all the information you could want to know about your day, and can be synched with other apps like My Fitness Plan.
If given the choice between this and something like a Fitbit, I'd pick this 10 times over!
Very disappointed so far. Pros: The band is comfortable, the display is clear, and the step "counting" seems accurate. Cons: I can not seem to get it to tell time, get an audible alert, track my sleep or Synch with my devices. I'm not enjoying trying to navigate their help pages to determine how to fix this either.
