I'm really pleased with this little booger. I find that it's fairly accurate with step counts. It's not perfect, but the whole point here is that I was a fat, lazy slob who had no idea just how inactive I'd become. The first few days, I saw just how lazy I was, and after looking at my performance tracker on the connect app (which is free) I finally waddled my big ass outside for a walk. It was a low goal figure (like 6000 steps and it beat my ass to hit it. Holy crap, was I tired. So I kept plugging away and in a few days I really started to feel a difference. Maybe garmin's telling me I walked 8.6 miles when I really walked 7.9 but who cares? a month an a half ago I was lucky if I walked 2 miles.
There are some other functions that integrate to this device, like a heart rate monitor. No, they don't have anything built into the wristband. Those things don't work. Garmin does have a chest strap with blue tooth that can measure your heart rate, etc.
I like the display and the single button operation. I like the back light. It's a nice, durable little number powered by standard button batteries that are fairly easy to replace. I also like that it's not an Apple or a Microsoft product. My favorite feature is the web launcher. The refills are expensive, but it's really cool to shoot spider webs out of a wrist band.
Well, I was highly pleased with this device initially. I purchased it in December, and have worn it since then (it's now June). I have not worn it in the shower even though it says it's waterproof. I haven't subjected it to any abuse at all. It worked great, and was very simple. Then one day, it just stopped syncing with my mobile device. I thought it might be my phone, so I reset the phone. I removed, downloaded, and reinstalled the Garmin Connect software, but the device simply will not pair with the phone again. Very disappointing, as I really like the Fit itself. It seems to be working fine, still tracking my sleep and my steps, but without being able to sync it to the mobile app, I can't see how I've progressed over time. I would expect it to last much longer than six months. I guess I'll bite the bullet and buy the more expensive model :(
I've had it about a week and I love my Vivofit 2!! I know it's meant for doing running and other activities but I ordered it mainly to keep me accountable and set walking goals to loose weight. I was able to put in my weight, height, and age on the Connect app on my phone and it syncs to give me goals to meet every day. My favorite feature is the sedentary tracker. The more I sit, the red bar up top keeps filling. Once it fills up, it lets out a small beep to let me know I need to move. I take a walk through the building or go get a bottle water from the break room on the other side of the building and the bar begins blinking down. The watch then beeps at you when the bar is gone. It helps me meet my minimum steps for the day and then some. So far, I'm very pleased. I even like the sleep feature as it made me realize I was sleeping too long most nights! You can set activities and set which readouts you want to show on your watch from the app. I just have time, date, steps walked, and goal steps. I kind of wish it came with a heart rate monitor built in but you can buy one of those separately that works with the watch. What I love most about it is that it does what I want it to do for less than half the price of a FitBit. I highly recommend it to someone who isn't looking for all the ridiculous bells and whistles and just wants something to help keep track of the basics that's right there on your wrist.
