Superb Timepiece!
At first, I was somewhat skeptical of purchasing this watch because, at the time I was considering, there was only one review about this watch. So, here's a more in-depth description of my experiences with it after having worn it for about a week now: - Case and bracelet: They are very sturdily constructed, as they are made with stainless steel. The bracelet has two finishes - high polish on the center of the link, brushed on the sides, and high polish of the ends where the link pins are located - which, in my opinion, looks very nice. The clasp is stamped and not machined, which would have been a nice touch; but, nonetheless, the double security clasp is just about as brawny as any I've saw previously. One thing that I will make mention of, though, is this: the link pins are NOT screw pins. They look very similar because the end of the pin has a slit in it and appears to be a screw head until you observe it closer. I messed up one pin slightly because I was of the impression that it did, in fact, screw out - on the contrary. The dial, bezel, hands, and crystal: Of the three, there is very little that I would change. They are all beautifully finished and look wonderful in all different setting of light. The sunray style dial is superb, the hands are beautifully polished, and the second hand sweeps smoothly along at 8 beats per second. The biggest disadvantage of this watch, though, is that the illumination of the large Arabic numerals and the hands are sub-par. They are simply alright - that's it. If you must have a watch that is easily readable in darker settings, I might would reconsider. I have a Seiko that is much more legible at nighttime than my HydroConquest is. Aside from that, I have no other problems or complaints with this watch, period. Movement: The movement that Longines uses in this watch is the ETA 2824-2, which has proven to be an extremely accurate and reliable movement. So far, I've found that when I'm wearing the watch throughout the day, it gains nor loses anything. But at night, when I'm not wearing it, it always loses three seconds. Really, as far as accuracy is concerned, it could qualify under COSC standards, and it is the most accurate mechanical watch that I have ever owned. So, overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this watch to anyone who wants to buy a reliable and exquisite timepiece that I suspect will last for years to come.
