One thing that makes a surface laptop stand out is its design. It is a thin and light computer with just a few compromises.

It's pretty much perfect, it feels really nice. The Aluminium chassis feels solid, there's no flex to it whatsoever and it's very smooth. It also doesn't pick up fingerprints too much either, which is a really nice bonus. So don't worry about wiping it out, there's nothing that's gonna show up. There's also no seams and screws on it, and there's actually no venting on the bottom either. It is absolutely immaculate.

I Like almost everything about this laptop, big beautiful touch screen, fast and accurate trackpad, decent speakers underneath the laptop, and very well made keyboard, which is much better than on a wife's MacBook.

Some people complains about the lack of USB Type-C port on the Surface laptop, well, it could be a deal breaker for some people, but not for me. I don't have any USB-C dongle. I'm using a regular USB stick and I definitely didn't plan to use the external graphics amplifier with this laptop, so I'm totally fine that Microsoft decided to miss the USB Type-C port. But I do wish they'd found a way to put an SD card reader on this thing.
BTW, there are actually 2 USB-A ports, there's another one on the power adaptor!

I bought a Core i5 version with 8 GB of RAM and it is working fast, SSD is not as fast as I expected, it's just OK. It's powerful enough for most things most people want to do. Laptop managed to work about 7 - 7.5 hours on a single charge and I was surprised how quiet it was working without getting too hot. Also, I noticed a very good standby battery life. There was no depletion at all. The laptop doesn't loose the charge when I close the lid and come in the evening.

The only complaint I have is Windows 10S which is coming out of the box. Actually, I do like the idea of a light version of the operation system which supposed to be more simple and safer (with only Windows Store apps). It cold be a perfect OS for old people or young minds, but there nothing to download from this store! Apps from the Store aren't as good as their full desktop version. You should immediately upgrade to the Pro version of the Windows.

Now let's talk about the deck. It is an Alcantara - synthetic fabric which feels and looks awesome and it is exactly the same fabric which I have in my car.
I suspect that it's gonna get marred up and pick up stains over time. But it feels very nice and looks luxurious.

The Surface Laptop is one of the most attractive laptops ever, and it backs up those great looks with solid performance and long battery life.
So, if you're comfortable with the fact that there is no USB Type-C port, and you are OK with the price of it, I would say you should buy it.
Of course, this is not the best value for such kind of laptops, (ASUS ZenBook UX330UA-AH5Q is a winner here) but this device is definitely worth your attention.
